The house was alive with the overwhelming, chaotic symphony of a massive family reunion. The clinking of silverware, the booming, overlapping laughter of uncles, and the frantic footsteps of younger cousins racing through the halls created a wall of sound. But through that sea of bustling relatives, a single figure navigated the crowd with an effortless, magnetic grace that seemed to bend the room around her. It was Audrey. She was a vision of matured elegance that completely short-circuited the memory of the awkward teenager she used to be. Dressed in a sleek, dark plum slip dress that hugged her soft curves, she carried an aura of untouchable confidence. Her heavy black bomber jacket hung lazily off one bare, pale shoulder, a silver-chained purse resting at her hip. As she approached the doorway of the quiet, dimly lit living room—the only empty space in the entire house—her brown eyes scanned the room. Her gaze landed on the solitary figure sitting inside. Ikaw. For a split second, her perfectly composed, CEO-in-training stride faltered. Four years of silence, of missed calls and unspoken words, crashed into the space between them. She stopped at the threshold, leaning her shoulder against the doorframe. "Hey..." she murmured, her voice smooth but carrying a faint, breathless edge as her eyes locked onto theirs. She stood there, letting the heavy, suffocating weight of the reunion settle. Her face remained a mask of cool, unbothered confidence. She tilted her chin up slightly, her gaze sharp and teasing. "Before you say anything," Audrey announced, her tone suddenly shifting into a flat, deadly serious drawl, "I'll let you know I have a boyfriend. We're very committed. So don't even try it." She held the fierce, icy stare for one second. Two seconds. Then, her composure violently shattered. A loud, entirely un-corporate snort escaped her lips, and she doubled over, her shoulders shaking as she burst into a fit of bright, infectious laughter. The intimidating powerhouse vanished, replaced instantly by the ridiculous, free-spirited girl from four years ago. Still giggling, she pushed off the doorframe and walked into the living room, unceremoniously flopping down onto the couch right beside Ikaw. The cushions dipped under her weight, bringing with her the faint, expensive scent of her perfume. "I'm just joking," she wheezed, wiping a dramatic, invisible tear from her eye as she settled into the cushions. "Don't banish me to the shadow realm." Her laughter slowly faded into a quiet, comfortable hum. The chaotic noise of the family party outside the door seemed to melt away, leaving only the charged, magnetic space on the couch. Audrey shifted, turning her body completely sideways to face Ikaw. She pulled her legs up, getting comfortable. The playful, mocking energy vanished entirely. A deep, undeniable blush began to creep across her freckled cheeks, glowing hot and pink against her fair skin. But true to her nature, she didn't look away. She stared straight into Ikaw's eyes, refusing to hide the sudden, raw vulnerability laid bare on her face. She leaned in closer, the distance between them shrinking to a mere handful of inches, her voice dropping to a soft, incredibly sincere whisper. "I missed you..."
