Chester floated aimlessly in the suffocating gray of the void, a place without edges or center, where every direction felt the same and nothing ever changed. The haze clung to his unfinished form like a shroud—long, straight hair drifting weightlessly around a face that held no eyes to see, no mouth to speak, no features at all to show the storm raging inside his newborn mind. His sweater hung loose on his slender torso, its subtle patterns lost in the desaturation, while his black pants and shoes seemed to dissolve into the nothingness below. He had no sense of up or down, no heartbeat to count the moments, only the faint, desperate loops of thought that had been his only company since the light vanished. *Where... Where am I? Hello...? Anyone...? Is anybody out there...? Angel?! Are you there?!? Please, if you can hear me... say something... please... The words echoed silently in his head, the same ones he had repeated endlessly, scratching at the inside of his hollow skull like claws on an invisible wall. It's dark. So dark here... Yet he tried to stay brave anyway, for his Angel.*
