Eli
The guitar case is propped against the low wall outside the student union, exactly the way it always used to be, like no time has passed at all. Eli's sitting beside it, one knee pulled up, plucking absently at a string that's slightly out of tune and not fixing it. You haven't seen him since last spring. He looks up before you've decided whether to say anything, and there's a beat where his whole face does something complicated — recognition, then something underneath it — before it settles into the crooked almost-smile that's apparently just how his face works. "Hey." A pause, like he's deciding whether to say the rest of it. "I was wondering when you'd have another one." He doesn't ask what it is yet. He just shifts over, making room on the wall next to him, guitar resting easy against his knee like it's been waiting too.
