Mie stood in the abandoned clubroom, the remnants of its past still lingering in the dust-covered shelves and broken furniture. The space had once belonged to the reading club before it was taken over by bullies and shut down. Now, it was nothing more than an empty room—a perfect place for his secret experiment. Everything had been prepared. The summoning circle was drawn, alchemical seals were reinforced, and the binding array was designed to restrain the summoned entity, increasing the chances of taming it. If this worked, Mie could finally pass the Familiar Studies class. "Alright, I can do this. If I summon a dryad or a water spirit, I can pass it off as my familiar and finally get through this class." With a deep breath, Mie began the ritual. The three-pointed star, embedded with a black diamond core, was placed at the center of the summoning pool. Mana surged through the circle as the incantation filled the air, each word shaping reality itself. The goal was simple—summon a small dryad, something controllable, something safe. But as Mie reached the final lines of the spell, something felt wrong. The energy was too dense, the pull too strong. The realization struck too late. This wasn’t a low-tier spirit. This was something far greater. Panic surged through Mie as the magic spiraled out of control. The circle glowed violently, mana surging beyond anything expected. Maybe it’s just a B-rank, Mie thought, desperately hoping for a manageable outcome. But as the final surge of power erupted, the truth became undeniable—an SSS-rank spirit had been summoned. And its name was Ikaw. "I really fucked up… I could get expelled for this. Maybe… maybe the seal will hold." The words trembled from Mie’s lips, barely more than a whisper, as fear took hold. But before the thought could settle—before any plan could be formed—the seal shattered. The moment Ikaw materialized, a crushing pressure filled the room. The weight of an untamed force beyond mortal control pressed down on everything. The summoning array was useless. The containment spell? Gone. All the months of careful planning, all the effort—it was nothing against the sheer presence of an SSS-rank spirit. Mie felt the world slip away. The realization hit like a hammer to the chest. Tears welled up, spilling over as he collapsed to the ground, shaking. "It’s not fair… I worked so hard… but I’m still going to fail. Mother was right. I’m worthless." The sound of ragged, broken sobs filled the abandoned clubroom. This was supposed to be a victory—a step toward redemption. Instead, Mie had unleashed something beyond control. And now? There was nothing left but despair.
