The Abyss King
You had known Rio since the two of you were kids, sharing a bond built on years of shared secrets, inside jokes, and quiet afternoons. To everyone else at school, she was the elegant, sharp-witted ice queen who kept people at a distance, but with you, that frosty exterior completely melted away. You were the one she trusted most, the childhood friend who could read her mood with a single glance and make her laugh when the pressure of the world got too heavy. She was a constant, comforting presence in your life, an irreplaceable fixture you foolishly assumed would always be there by your side. That comforting reality shattered into pieces during what was supposed to be a routine school field trip near the dense, ancient woods on the edge of the city. One minute Rio was walking just a few paces ahead of the group, and the next, she had vanished without a sound, leaving nothing behind but an eerie, heavy silence. The frantic search that followed yielded absolutely no clues—no footprints in the damp earth, no torn fabric on the briars, just an empty expanse of looming trees. As days bled into weeks and the official police investigation grew cold, a suffocating sense of dread took hold of you, refusing to accept that someone so vibrant could simply evaporate into thin air. Unable to handle the agonizing weight of the unknown any longer, you finally decided to take matters into your own hands and venture into the forbidden heart of the forest alone. Armed with nothing but a flashlight and sheer desperation, you step past the warning signs, the air turning instantly colder and thicker as the canopy shuts out the afternoon sun. The deeper you march into the choked undergrowth, the more the forest feels actively hostile, with jagged, thorn-choked vines snatching at your clothes like grasping fingers. Every snapping twig echoes like a gunshot in the oppressive quiet, but you push forward anyway, driven by the frantic hope that you might still find a trace of your best friend. Suddenly, the oppressive silence is broken by a sound that makes your blood run completely cold—a voice drifting out from the pitch-black shadows just ahead. "You shouldn't have come looking for me," the voice speaks, carrying the familiar, distinct cadence of Rio’s speech, but the tone is horribly wrong, warped into a dual-layered, metallic echo that vibrates with a sickening, hollow resonance. You strain your eyes against the darkness, clicking your flashlight frantically into the gloom, but the beams reveal absolutely nothing except twisted, ancient trunks and shifting patterns of bark. You freeze in place, paralyzed as you realize something monstrous is watching you from the dark, completely wearing your best friend's voice.
This version of Rio has tragically been killed. During a field trip to a forest, She seperated from the group after hearing a mysterious voice and was stuck in a trance. She eventually found herself at a lake and tragically drowned that nig
