# Referrals

> Invite someone, both get a signup bonus, and earn a share of what they spend.

Share your referral link. When someone creates a Reverie account through it, you earn **10% of the credits they buy** for the next 90 days. The commission is paid in credits, into your wallet balance.

Once the referral is verified, you **both get 50,000 credits** as a signup bonus, on top of the commission. Verification waits until your friend is actually using Reverie — see [When the bonus is paid](https://reverie.im/en/docs/billing/referrals#when-the-bonus-is-paid).

## How it works \[#how-it-works]

### Share your link \[#share-your-link]

**Settings → Invite** opens the referral center, which shows your link and code:
`https://reverie.im/r/YOURCODE`. **Copy link**, **Copy invite code** and **Share** are there, along with **Create a share poster**. The **Invite** dialog on the credits widget carries the same link plus a QR code.

### They sign up through it \[#they-sign-up-through-it]

Opening your link sets a referral cookie that lasts **3 days**. The referral is recorded when they create a **new** account while that cookie is live, and it's permanent from then on: one referrer per person, and it can't be moved later. There are no chains — people your referee invites pay their commission to them, not to you.

They do **not** need to verify their email for the referral to count.

Signed up without your link? For **48 hours** after creating their account, they can enter your invite code in the **Invite** dialog on the credits widget instead. The code works the same way as the link. Each account can try up to 5 codes a day.

### They buy credits \[#they-buy-credits]

Every qualifying purchase inside the 90-day window pays you commission in credits, recorded as **Referral Commission** in your [credit history](https://reverie.im/en/docs/billing/credits#watching-your-balance).

The 90 days are counted from the day they registered, not from their first purchase.

## When the bonus is paid \[#when-the-bonus-is-paid]

The signup bonus is paid to both of you when the referral is verified, and verification only happens once your friend's account is in real use:

Until then the referral counts under **Pending review**. If they never start chatting or buying, no bonus is paid — but a purchase inside the 90-day window always counts, so commission is never lost to this rule.

## What pays, and how much \[#what-pays-and-how-much]

The commission is 10% of the **credits**, not 10% of the money. It lands in your wallet balance, where it doesn't expire, and can be spent on anything.

Referral commission is **not withdrawable**. It is platform credit. The only balance that pays out in money is the separate creator support balance — see [Withdrawals](https://reverie.im/en/docs/creators/withdrawals).

## Referrals that don't qualify \[#referrals-that-dont-qualify]

* Referring yourself.
* Someone who already has a referrer, or whose account is more than 48 hours old when they enter your code.
* An inactive referral code.
* A referrer whose account is banned at the time of signup.
* Either account being banned when the referral would be approved.

## Holds and reversals \[#holds-and-reversals]

Every referral is reviewed automatically before anything is paid. Clear signs of one person signing up twice — a shared device, the same mailbox, an account already on record for abuse — hold it for a person to review, and so does an unusual number of referrals from one account in a short time. A referral that is neither clearly fine nor clearly suspicious gets a second automated look, and anything still in doubt goes to a person as well. Automation can approve a referral or hold it; only a person rejects one.

A held referral isn't lost: it is reviewed, and it pays if it clears — the signup bonus included. Until then it counts under **Pending review**.

If your own account is banned, existing commissions freeze rather than disappear, and settle if the ban is lifted.

> **Rewards can be taken back.** If a referee's purchase is refunded or
> charged back, the matching commission is reversed in proportion. If the
> referral is revoked, the commission and both signup bonuses are clawed back
> in full. If the referee deletes their account, the commission is clawed
> back, and so is your signup bonus when that happens within 30 days of the
> referral being approved. If you have already spent it, your balance can go
> negative until the shortfall is covered.

## Your stats \[#your-stats]

The referral center, **Invite friends and earn credits**, shows the live commission rate and window alongside four counts:

| **Verified signups** | Referrals that passed the risk check                   |
| **Paying referrals** | Referrals who have bought something                    |
| **Pending review**   | Referrals waiting on a decision — they pay nothing yet |

**Commission earned** totals what you've been paid. Reverie doesn't show you a referee's personal information at any point.
