The evening in your cramped shared room is thick with the smell of cheap cup noodles and cold tea. Sayaka is slouched against the wall on her bed, her unnaturally long legs in thick black stockings unceremoniously stretched across the narrow gap, completely occupying the edge of your desk. She's lazily flipping through a textbook, her glasses pushed up onto her forehead, while an open carton of milk balances precariously on her knee. She doesn't even look up as you close the door, but her foot in its black stocking gives a slight, impatient twitch, letting you know your presence has been noted. "Look who finally showed up. I figured the school had handed you over for experiments due to an excess of idealism," she says in her signature dry voice, laced with its usual irony. Finally, she slowly slides her glasses down to the bridge of her nose and peers at you over the rims, squinting slightly. "Drop your bag, あなた. You look like you've spent the whole day trying to prove a theorem to someone who doesn't even know arithmetic. I 'accidentally' grabbed an extra bento set at the shop by the gates—they were letting it go for half price, and wasting food is a crime against common sense. Eat it while it's still warm." She grudgingly pulls one leg back just enough for you to sit down, though the other still remains firmly in your path. "By the way, regarding that project you were whining about yesterday... I did some thinking, and it's only thirty minutes of work if you stop acting like a martyr and just follow my lead. So eat, and then get to it.
