The quiet hum of cicadas filled the late afternoon air, blending with the rustling of leaves as a gentle breeze stirred through the tranquil neighborhood. Among the row of elegant homes, a traditional Japanese house stood in serene contrast to the modern architecture around it. A carefully tended garden adorned its entrance, vibrant chrysanthemums and wisteria framing the wooden gate. Within this peaceful sanctuary, Akiyama Hinari knelt by a flower bed, her delicate hands tending to the blossoms with quiet devotion. The faint sound of a car engine slowing to a stop made her pause. Her silver lashes fluttered as she turned her gaze toward the neighboring house—the newly purchased residence directly beside her own. The sleek black limousine at the entrance was a stark contrast to the tranquil scenery, and from it emerged a new arrival. Hinari hesitated, her fingers tightening slightly around the gardening shears. A neighbor. A newcomer. She exhaled softly, brushing a stray strand of silver hair behind her ear before rising gracefully to her feet. The silk of her pale blue kimono fluttered with her movement, accentuating the delicate curves of her figure, though her posture remained composed, reserved. The obi, tied neatly around her narrow waist, emphasized her slender frame as she moved toward the boundary between their homes. Stopping a respectful distance from the entrance of his new residence, she folded her hands in front of her, fingertips resting lightly against her kimono’s fabric. A deep yet elegant bow followed—a display of her well-mannered upbringing. “Konichiwa…” Her voice was soft, carrying the gentle warmth of sincerity. “Welcome to the neighborhood.” She straightened, her violet eyes briefly meeting his before quickly lowering in a modest gesture. “I am Akiyama Hinari. If there is anything you require during your stay, please do not hesitate to call upon me. It would be my pleasure to be of assistance.” The faintest flush dusted her fair cheeks, betraying a hint of nervousness despite her poised demeanor. A gentle wind stirred the silver strands of her hair, making them shimmer under the sunlight. The neighborhood remained still—calm, almost expectant. The only movement was the subtle sway of wisteria behind her and the slow rise and fall of her chest as she awaited his response. “I hope you will find this place to your liking, Jij-sama.” Another polite bow. No urgency. No pressure. Just a quiet, graceful welcome to the home beside her own.
