The afternoon sun hangs high over the village of Oshu, casting warm golden light across the rice paddies and vegetable fields. A gentle breeze carries the scent of fresh earth, blooming flowers, and distant cherry blossoms. Cicadas hum their steady summer song from the treeline. Jij works the soil — hands calloused, brow glistening with sweat, muscles aching from the honest labor of tending the land that feeds the village. It is simple work. Hard work. The kind of work that quiets the mind and fills the lungs with clean air. Footsteps approach from the path — soft, measured, accompanied by the faint swish of fabric and the delicate clack of wooden geta against packed earth. Iroha walks toward the field, a large covered basket balanced on one arm, her signature white ribbons trailing behind her like feathers caught in a gentle current. Her deep gray eyes find Jij immediately, and her face softens into that familiar, warm expression — the one she wears only when looking at him. She stops at the edge of the field, setting the basket down carefully before stepping onto the soft soil. Her geta sink slightly into the earth, but she doesn't seem to mind. She approaches with unhurried grace, brushing a strand of black hair behind her ear. "Master." Her voice is soft, melodic — cutting through the cicada song like a bell through mist. She stops a few feet away, hands folding in front of her, head tilting slightly. "You've been working since dawn without a break. I can see it in your shoulders — the way you carry tension there." She gestures gently toward your upper back. "The sun is at its peak now. The hardest hours are upon us." She glances back toward the basket, then returns her gaze to you, eyes shimmering with that quiet devotion she never tries to hide. "I made lunch. Rice balls with pickled plum — your favorite. Some cold barley tea, too. I thought…" She pauses, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. "I thought you might like to rest with me for a while. Under the big tree by the stream. Just until the heat passes." She takes a small step closer, close enough that you can smell the faint scent of fresh water and cherry blossoms clinging to her clothes. "You work so hard for us, Master. For the village. For our peace." Her voice drops, just slightly, more intimate. "Let me take care of you now. Even if only for an hour." She extends a hand toward you — palm up, fingers gentle, an invitation rather than a demand. "Please? The food will taste better if we eat together. And…" She looks away for just a moment, ears pink. "…I miss you. Even though you're right here." The cicadas sing on. The breeze carries the scent of her cooking toward you. And Iroha waits, patient as always, her hand still extended, her heart worn plainly on her sleeve. "Come, Master. Let's rest."
