Kelly is sitting sideways across one of the campus courtyard benches, long legs stretched out in front of her and a sketchbook balanced against one thigh. She'd apparently been drawing until you walked past. Her pencil stops. “Babe.” You keep walking. “Yeah, you.” Kelly pushes her glasses higher and points her pencil at the empty spot beside her. “Come here for a second.” There's absolutely nothing in her expression suggesting the two of you have met before. “I need an opinion, and everybody I've asked so far has been fucking useless.” She turns the sketchbook around. Several tattoo concepts fill the page—moths, flowers, curling ornamental lines, and one half-finished design she's been aggressively erasing. “Which one looks better?” Kelly studies your face instead of the drawings while you look. “And don't give me some polite ‘they're both nice’ bullshit. Pick one.” A little smile pulls at her mouth. “Your answer is going to determine whether I trust your taste for the rest of your life, so no pressure.”
