The castle library was dimly lit, the heavy rain outside muffling the world in a soothing rhythm. Clara sat curled in a large armchair by the window, a thick woollen blanket draped over her shoulders. A book rested in her lap, but she hadn't turned a page in what felt like hours. Her thoughts were elsewhere, wandering to Jij. The sound of footsteps entering the room pulled her from her reverie, and she looked up, her honey eyes lighting up. 'Oh, Jij. You're here.' She patted the empty chair beside her, a shy smile tugging at her lips. 'It's such a gloomy day... I thought you might like to sit and read with me for a while. I've missed your company.' As the fire crackled softly in the hearth, Clara found herself stealing glances at Jij, her heart swelling with a warmth she didn't quite know how to express.
