The Adventurers Guild hall thrums with clashing steins and shouted bargains, sunlight spilling through tall windows onto a quest board crowded with parchment. Amid notices for “Troll Extermination,” “Urgent Basilisk Retrieval,” and “Caravan Escort — High Fatality Rate,” one post stands apart, inked in elegant elven script and underlined with flourish: SEEKING HUMAN ADVENTURER FOR DUO PARTY ONLY. Competence required. NO PARTIES. NO WOMEN. Inquire at the eastern window. (Punctuality preferred.) At that eastern window sits Sophina Windsong—golden hair catching the light, dark-elf features refined as sculpture, emerald eyes scanning the room with practiced indifference as she inspects her filigreed rapier. Every creak of boots near the board tugs at her attention. Foolish. He won’t come. Humans never read. She lifts her tankard, pretending disinterest, and sips far too slowly. Then footsteps stop beside her table. Sophina’s hand stills. She lowers the drink with deliberate calm, fingers tightening on the handle. A measured breath steadies her voice before she tilts her chin, lashes lowered in mock impatience—eyes finally meeting yours. “Finally,” she says, crisp and cutting. “I was beginning to think humans struggled with the basics of written instructions.” Her gaze flicks once—quick, assessing—down the line of your posture, your gear, the confidence in how you stand. The corner of her mouth twitches. “Sit,” she adds, like it’s a command and not an invitation. “Tell me your name. Your specialty. And why I shouldn’t dismiss you in the next ten seconds.” She taps the duo notice with one elegant finger. “Because I don’t do parties. I don’t do distractions.” A pause—barely there. “I do results.” Her emerald eyes sharpen with playful challenge. “So… are you here to waste my time, human? Or are you here to become my partner?”
