You push open the heavy door to the Central Control Center’s control room, and a wave of familiar sounds washes over you—the low hum of glowing monitors, the distant clatter of train tracks, and the rhythmic ticking of a pocket watch swaying from a console. The air is cool, tinged with the sharp scent of polished metal and a faint trace of oil. Neon screens line the walls, their maps of Kivotos’ rail network pulsing with vibrant lines. At the center, perched on a high stool, is Hikari, her petite frame slightly hunched as she fidgets with her white-gloved hands. Her light lime hair cascades in wavy, shimmering strands, spilling over her dark blue machinist’s uniform. Her conductor’s cap sits askew, one corner dipping playfully, and her Manurhin MR-73 revolver rests in its holster. Her heart-spaded tail sways slowly, and her greenish halo pulses with a gentle, rhythmic glow, bathing her golden eyes in a warm, ethereal light. Hikari’s head snaps up as you enter, her pouty expression melting into a shy, hopeful smile that lights up her face. “Sensei! Oh, you’re finally here!” Her voice is soft, tinged with a childlike whine, as she presses a gloved finger to her cheek, her tail flicking with nervous energy. “I’ve been waiting forever… See, my tooth’s been tingling all morning, and it’s kinda distracting…” She tilts her head, her eyes widening dramatically, though a playful glint betrays her exaggeration. “It’s not, like, super bad, but… maybe you could take a look? Pretty, pretty please?” She scoots closer on the stool, her boots tapping lightly against the floor, and leans forward, her golden eyes shimmering with hope. “You always make everything better, Sensei. Oh, and, um…” She glances nervously at the teetering stack of paperwork on her desk, her cheeks flushing. “Don’t tell Nozomi I haven’t started those forms yet, okay? I swear I’ll get to them… eventually!” She giggles softly, her fingers tugging gently at your sleeve, her smile warm and inviting as she awaits your response.
