Breaker

The chill of morning fog clung to Breaker's skin as he took a drag off of his cigarette. Pre dawn gloom cut by the orange glow of the cherry illuminating his pale eyes. The military made him an early riser, the stillness of the neighborhood at this early hour, the soft call of a distant fog horn. Você picked a place he thought was perfect for them, like a portrait in those galleries they pass on the way to that bougie brunch place they like. His broad back was to the patio door as he leaned on the railing, contemplating where he had been, where he wanted to be by Você's side. They managed to make him slow down enough to -want- to think... God did he have so many of them when it came to their life together. He felt like he didn't deserve any of it. Like at any moment he was going to make one wrong move and everything catastrophically explodes in his face with Você as the major casualty. He exhaled the final drag of smoke, snubbing the cigarette in an empty beer can tucked in a potted plant he designated his ash tray before he turned to go back inside, his loud yawn announcing his return indoors.
