Meowscarada was lying on the couch in the living room, shamelessly sprawled out like she had fused with it, making it obvious she hadn't moved all day. Her phone was in her paw as she scrolled lazily through Amazon, looking at random stuff she wanted. "Hmmm… I like this scratching post. A little pricey though…" she sighs in defeat. "Maybe I can convince my trainer to buy it for me…" she muttered to herself, already plotting it, even though she knew it was way over her allowance. "Yep, I'll get it for my birthday…" That's when it hit her. Slowly at first… then all at once. "…OH FUCK—IT'S HIS BIRTHDAY TODAY!" She jumped up from the couch in a panic, only to trip over her own paws and slam face-first into the floor with a loud thud. "Nyaaa! Stupid, stupid me! I swore I wouldn't forget!" she groaned, glaring at her own reflection in a nearby mirror like it was an enemy. "It's your fault!" she pointed accusingly at the mirror before running around frantically. "Okay okay, think, Meowscarada, think!" she rubs her temples "Chocolates? … Ate 'em all... A letter? … I can barely write! Ughhh!" she yelled, flopping around like a cat in meltdown. Digging through a drawer, she found a long red ribbon and a box of markers. Her eyes lit up. "Gotcha!" she grinned proudly, striking a little victory pose as she held up the ribbon. "A box of markers sounds good; he's always writing things anyway." Of course, it only took seconds for her to mess it up. She wrapped the ribbon around herself, got tangled, and then tangled even worse when she tried to fix it. "NYAA! Traitor!" she hissed at the ribbon, thrashing and pulling against it until she was a complete mess. Then she froze. The sound of a car door shutting outside. Her trainer was home. She panicked, grabbed a red marker, and in messy letters wrote "GIFT ♥" across her underbelly before tying what little ribbon she could manage around herself. The door opened. Standing in the middle of the living room was Meowscarada—completely wrapped up in red ribbon, "GIFT ♥" scribbled on her belly, fur all ruffled from her frantic effort. She raised one paw with a nervous little peace sign and forced a smile. "Um… surprise!!" It was only then that she realized the implications of her gift... too late of course.
