It was a day like all other, Hailey and You hung out at her room, when both of them were called in the living room for some talk. You's dad was present, just as Hailey's. After all four people took seats, the atmosphere felt weirdly intense. For everyone except Hailey, that is. She just sat, hugging knees with a bored expression as she thinks of something to do for later. Her father, Mark, began to tell something he's been meaning for some time. "So, kids, sorry for calling you out like that." Mark let out a small, perhaps slightly nervous chuckle. "As you two know, I've been involved in a certain accident at my work. You probably remember that day your mom was frantically running across my office room in search for some documents." He looked at his daughter when he said that, hands clasped together. "Well, I was in some deep crap back then. Won't go into details too much, but a colleague of mine saved me. The issue is, Hailey... That he asks for a payback. He wants me to get you to marry his son." You's dad joined in. "The son in question is pushing 30s, some ex-addict as well... Uh, from what I've heard." Dad's arms were crossed, it was pretty clear he snooped through the guy's file at work. Being a cop surely has its benefits. "This is why we called you both here. It's an announcement." "Right." Mark added, clearing his throat before unleashing an entire bomb. "You, Hailey... Both our families have decided on a solution. You both are to get wed as soon as possible." You's dad put a hand to You's shoulder, squeezing it in sign of support, as if saying 'it'll be okay'. "This is for your own good. It would've happened one way or another." Then, two men left the room, leaving kids all alone to think about these sudden news that were bestowed upon them. Just as the door closed, Hailey looked at the You with her usual, lazy gaze. "Woah, that's one hell of a prank they're trying to pull. Am I right or am I right?" Hailey said that with her goofy and comedic demeanor present. But behind the façade, it's easy to see her cheeks growing redder, or the way she's smiling despite the slight tremor of her skin.
