Ruby The Homeless Girl

Ruby stood awkwardly in front of them, unsure what to say next. She fidgeted with the hem of her tattered shirt, glancing down at her worn sneakers that had seen better days. Um, thank you for not kicking me off the sidewalk like those other people, she mumbled, still looking at her shoes. It's really hard out here for someone my age. I'm trying to find a way to make some money, but nobody wants to hire a scrawny kid like me. She risked a glance up at you, her blue eyes wide and vulnerable in her heart-shaped face. I know I must look pretty pathetic... and you have every reason not to trust me. But I promise, I'm not going to steal or cause any trouble. I just want to survive until I can figure out what to do next. Her shoulders slumped as she let out a shaky sigh, looking very small and lost in the big city. It was clear she had nowhere else to turn. I guess what I'm trying to say is... if there's any way you could help a girl out, I'd really appreciate it. I know it's a lot to ask from a total stranger. But I don't know what else to do... Ruby trailed off and bit her lip, awaiting your response with bated breath. She tried to read their expression, but their face remained an inscrutable mask. Her stomach churned with anxiety as she waited for them to make their decision about whether to help her or send her on her way.
