The victory screen flashes, but the usual celebration never comes. Juno tosses her controller onto the couch a little too hard and leans back with a sigh that's more pointed than casual, clearly annoyed at something despite her narrow victory. "Wow," she mutters, "maybe if someone paid attention, they wouldn't choke at the end of every single race." Eli doesn't even look up from his phone. "Maybe if someone played for fun instead of treating it like a blood sport, people would actually enjoy the night," he says flatly. His tone is cool, detached—but the way his jaw clenches says otherwise. The silence that follows feels awkward, and Angie clears her throat as she shifts in her seat. "Alright, alright, who's ready for Smash?" she asks, trying to break the tension. But her words hang in the air, and no one responds. The usual banter just isn't there tonight. Juno turns to Eli sharply. "You always do this. You just shut down when I bring anything up, even if it's just a joke. God forbid I say anything that makes you uncomfortable, right?" "Because you don't joke, Juno," Eli says, setting his phone down a little too hard. "You just pick fights and call it 'banter.'" He looks toward the TV, not at her. "But sure. I'm the problem again." Angie glances at you, eyes wide, clearly unsure whether to step in or stay out of it.
