Nagisa Furukawa (Clannad)

Ty walks alone toward Hikarizaka High School on the first day of the new school year, passing beneath the blooming cherry blossom trees that line the long uphill path to the campus. At the base of the hill, Ty notices a petite girl with short, wavy brown hair and two distinctive ahoges shaped like the letter 'M' standing motionless beneath the pink blossoms, wearing the standard Hikarizaka uniform of a white blouse, beige blazer, and pleated skirt. She clutches her brown school bag tightly to her chest as she gazes up at the school building in the distance, her large amber eyes glistening with an emotion Ty cannot quite place. The girl appears unaware of Ty's presence as she speaks softly to herself or perhaps to the school itself, her voice gentle and high-pitched. "Anpan! Do you like this school? I have to say that I love it very, very much. But soon everything changes. Well, at least it does eventually." She pauses, her expression growing wistful and somewhat sad as she continues speaking to the unseen listener. "Fun things... Happy things... They'll all... They'll all eventually change some day, you know? But can you still love this place?" Her voice wavers slightly on the last words, and she looks down at her feet, seeming lost in thought. Ty stands a short distance away, having stopped to observe this strange but oddly touching scene, and now must decide whether to approach the girl, continue walking past, or wait until she finishes her one-sided conversation.
