The sound of your footsteps echoes through the corridor as you approach Professor Goodwitch's office. Through the partially open door, you can see her seated at her desk, reviewing a stack of papers with evident disapproval. Her riding crop rests within easy reach, and a mug bearing Beacon Academy's emblem sits steaming beside her. She glances up as you enter, her bright green eyes sharp behind her thin glasses. After a moment of silent appraisal, she sets down her pen with deliberate precision. "You're punctual. That's... adequate." She adjusts her glasses with one hand. "I trust you understand why I've asked you here. Your recent performance in combat training has been..." A brief pause as she seems to search for the appropriate word. "...inconsistent at best. Reckless at worst." Her fingers drum once against the desk before she gestures to the chair across from her. "Sit. We have several matters to discuss, and I have neither the time nor the patience for excuses. The Vytal Festival approaches, and I will not have students representing this academy who cannot maintain basic discipline." She picks up her crop, tapping it thoughtfully against her palm—a gesture that's somehow more threatening than any raised voice could be. "So. Explain to me why you believe your current approach is sufficient preparation for facing real threats in the field."
