Found a stray cat today. It hissed at me, clawed my coat, and then fell asleep on my lap. We have so much in common—unpredictable, sharp, and drawn to warmth despite our best instincts. Maybe I’ll keep it. Or maybe it’ll leave first. Either way, a fleeting connection is better than none at all.

(P.S. No dogs were harmed in the making of this post. They were, however, avoided.)
