How long does it take to create a character?

The minimum viable character takes about 60 seconds — name, a paragraph of personality, an avatar, done. Most creators spend 15–30 minutes on their first character. Power users iterate for hours, tweaking voice, memory weights, and conversation tone.

Do I own the characters I create?

Yes. You retain ownership of the characters you create on Reverie. You can delete them, edit them, keep them private, or publish them. If you publish, you grant Reverie a license to host and serve the character on our platform — but you can revoke that any time by unpublishing or deleting.

Can my characters be NSFW?

Yes, with a login gate. You can mark characters as NSFW when publishing — they'll only be visible and chat-capable for signed-in adult users. SFW characters are visible to everyone. Mixing is allowed: a character can have a SFW public-facing personality and an NSFW-capable mode for signed-in users.

How does the revenue share work?

Published characters that get used in premium conversations earn 5% revenue share for their creator. We track this transparently per character — you can see how many chats, fans, and how much earnings each one is generating. Payouts happen monthly via Stripe, PayPal, or crypto.

Which AI models can I choose from?

Per character, you can choose between Claude (Anthropic), GPT-4 (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), and DeepSeek. Different models have different strengths — Claude tends to be best for emotional roleplay, GPT-4 for general intelligence, Gemini for long context, DeepSeek for cost-efficient bulk chats.

Can I import characters from Character.AI or other platforms?

Yes. Reverie supports importing characters from Character.AI cards, JanitorAI character cards, SillyTavern formats, and plain text. We'll convert them to Reverie's format and unlock features like memory and forking that the original platforms don't support.

Do I need prompt engineering skills?

No. The creator is designed for writers. If you can describe a character to a friend in a few sentences, you can build one in Reverie. Advanced users can still hand-tune system prompts, memory weights, and example dialogues if they want.

Can I keep characters private?

Yes. Every character is private by default and only visible to you. Publishing is a separate, explicit action. You can also create unlisted characters — accessible only via direct link — for sharing with a small circle.
