Using plugins
Install, activate, configure, and deactivate plugins in any chat.
Browse and install
Open the plugin panel
In any chat, open its plugin panel. The panel has My, Official, and Community tabs.
Pick a plugin
Cards show the plugin type, creator, description, installation state, and version. Community plugins can be searched by name or description. Some plugins are only available with a specific character.
Tap Install
The plugin is installed and enabled for the current chat. If it has settings, Reverie asks you to configure them first.
Activating a plugin in a chat
From the plugin panel inside any chat, use the switch to enable or disable an installed plugin. The override applies to this chat only.
Most plugins activate silently. Interactive plugins immediately add their buttons to the chat composer.
Official plugins
The Official tab contains Reverie-maintained plugins such as time controls, reactions, status cards, diary-style surfaces, and other chat enhancements. Install only the ones you want in a conversation.
Character-installed plugins
When a creator publishes a character, they can pre-install plugins on it that every user automatically gets when they start a chat. This is how character creators ship a full vision, not just a personality.
Creators can select these plugins while creating the character. Reverie records the exact plugin revision selected at that moment and saves the character and its plugin installations together. When editing the character later, the creator sees the installed and available versions and can explicitly update each default plugin without changing existing chat overrides.
Examples you might see:
- RPG character ships with stats, dice, inventory, quest tracker
- Language tutor character ships with vocab tracker, spaced repetition, progress dashboard
- Romance character ships with relationship meter, shared memories, activity planner
These appear already enabled in the plugin panel. You can't uninstall a character default from the chat, but you can switch it off for that chat whenever you want.
Plugin limits
- Up to 5 prompt-injection plugins active per chat. More than that and characters start to feel fragmented.
- No limit on interactive plugins.
- No limit on tool plugins, but each one adds context overhead.
Updates and privacy
Installations are pinned to a reviewed plugin revision. When a newer revision is available, the plugin card shows its version; selecting it updates that installation while preserving compatible settings. Tool plugins produce structured data inside Reverie and do not execute arbitrary author code or contact author-controlled endpoints.
Turning a plugin off
Use the switch in the chat plugin panel to turn a plugin off, or choose uninstall to remove it from that chat. Uninstalling doesn't alter messages that were already generated.
