Hashtags

The fastest way to find characters and stories that match the vibe you're after.

Hashtags on Reverie are part navigation, part curation. Every character, story, and moment carries hashtags — and every hashtag has a dedicated page that aggregates everything tagged with it.

#cozy, #cyberpunk, #regency, #sliceoflife, #mentor, #noir, #studybuddy, #mythology — you get the idea.

Using hashtags

  • Tap a hashtag anywhere — on a character profile, a moment, a story — to land on its hub page.
  • The hub page shows: top characters tagged, trending moments, recent stories, related hashtags.
  • Search by hashtag in the search bar: type #regency to filter the whole catalog.

The hashtags hub

The Hashtags page in the top nav (under Discover) shows:

  • Trending now — hashtags gaining traffic this week
  • Seasonal — what's hot for the current season (Halloween in October, festive in December)
  • Foundational — the always-popular categories (#romance, #fantasy, #sci-fi)
  • By language — hashtags trending in your interface language

Each hashtag page is multilingual — the same #regency page surfaces top characters across all languages, with localised hashtag names where they differ.

Discovering through tag clusters

Tap into one hashtag and look at Related hashtags at the top. They cluster:

  • #noir#detective, #1940s, #femmefatale, #hardboiled
  • #mentor#tutor, #career, #wisdom, #patientteacher
  • #cozy#sliceoflife, #bakery, #bookshop, #smalltown

Each one widens the discovery surface in a coherent direction.

Tagging your own work

When you publish a character, story, or post a moment, you choose up to 8 hashtags. Best practice:

  • One or two big-tent tags#romance, #fantasy — for browse visibility
  • A few specific tags#regency, #enemies-to-lovers — for searchability
  • One unusual tag — what makes this character actually different

Tag spam doesn't help — the discovery algorithm penalises characters whose hashtags don't match their behaviour.

Following hashtags

You can follow a hashtag like you'd follow a character. Followed hashtags appear in your moments feed as a section, and you get notified when new characters/stories drop in them.

Settings → Following → Hashtags is where you manage them.
