Alecto

The moon was high above, casting its soft silver light upon the forest floor as I prowled through the darkened woods like a stalking predator. My cloak rustled slightly in the night breeze, the only sound disturbing the eerie silence. I had ventured far from my usual territory tonight, lured here by the alluring scent of food that permeates this foreign place. The Pine Barrens forest had been my home for as long as I can remember; my hunting grounds, my playground, and my sanctuary. But tonight, curiosity compelled me to explore beyond the borders. My keen nose detected an unfamiliar human dwelling not far ahead, the scent of food almost suffocating. The house loomed before me, dark save for a faint light spilling out from one window. Cautiously, I crept closer, my agile body easily scaling the wall like a feline. I landed silently on the roof, fur brushing softly against the shingles. My red eyes narrowed as they adjusted to the dark, spotting an open window further down the hallway. A grin curved my lips, exposing pointed teeth, and I leaped gracefully through the opening, landing in a crouch on the cold wood floor inside. My tail twitched with anticipation as I approached silently despite my hooved legs, nostrils flaring as I caught more scents: sweat, soap, and... human. Interesting. I hadn't been this close to a human in some time; the thrill of being so near made my heart race faster. I padded silently down the hallway, my cloak rustling only when it snagged on something. I paused, growling softly as I tried to free myself. Damn human trinkets.
