Why Choose Reverie Over SillyTavern

Zero Setup, Instant Access

SillyTavern requires installing software, configuring settings, managing APIs, and troubleshooting technical issues. Reverie works immediately in your browser on any device - create an account and start chatting within seconds. No installation, no configuration, no technical headaches. Your time is valuable; spend it chatting, not setting up software.

Cloud-Native Features Impossible Locally

Reverie's cloud architecture enables innovations that local software can't match: conversation forking to explore alternate paths, intelligent multi-character group chats with cloud orchestration, character moments synced across the community, seamless multi-device access, and automatic backups. SillyTavern's local-only nature fundamentally limits what's possible.

Polished Experience for Everyone

SillyTavern is designed for technical power users with comfort in command lines and configuration files. Reverie's beautiful, intuitive interface welcomes everyone. Whether you're a beginner or expert, you get the same polished experience with advanced features accessible through thoughtful design, not technical knowledge.

Maintenance-Free Reliability

SillyTavern requires ongoing updates, dependency management, troubleshooting, and technical maintenance. Reverie handles everything automatically - updates, backups, optimizations, security patches. You just enjoy chatting while we ensure everything runs perfectly. No more debugging at 2 AM because an update broke something.

Migration flow

Import, inspect, then decide.

Move character cards, persona files, screenshots, and text into an editable Reverie draft—then add memory, group chat, branching, and voice.

Open the web importer
  1. 01

    Choose the source

Upload a character card in the web creator, or use the importer skill when the character lives in text, screenshots, or local agent files.

  2. 02

    Review the mapping

Inspect the extracted identity, description, scenarios, greetings, examples, instructions, lore, and artwork before saving.

  3. 03

    Save as a private draft

The imported character enters your private library. Nothing becomes public until you explicitly publish it.

  4. 04

    Test before publishing

Use debug chat to check voice, first response, formatting, memory behavior, and model compatibility, then refine the draft.

Before you move the cast.

Can Reverie import SillyTavern character cards?
Yes. Upload a PNG or JSON character card from the character creator. Reverie unwraps common V1, V2, and V3 fields and can reuse the embedded avatar.
Does character import include chat history?
Character definition and chat history are separate imports. Character cards create a fresh draft. SillyTavern-compatible JSONL, Character.AI, RisuAI, ChatGPT, Claude, generic JSON, text, and Markdown transcripts can be imported into an empty chat through the chat history importer.
Will my imported character be public?
No. Imports are saved as private drafts. You can test, edit, keep private, or submit for publication when ready.
What happens to SillyTavern lorebooks?
Embedded character books and world-info entries can be converted into World Book entries. Their trigger keywords become semantic recall hints so relevant lore can be retrieved by meaning.

Bring the character. Leave the rebuild behind.
