The minimum viable character takes about 60 seconds — name, a paragraph of personality, an avatar, done. Most creators spend 15–30 minutes on their first character. Power users iterate for hours, tweaking voice, memory weights, and conversation tone.
Yes. You retain ownership of the characters you create on Reverie. You can delete them, edit them, keep them private, or publish them. If you publish, you grant Reverie a license to host and serve the character on our platform — but you can revoke that any time by unpublishing or deleting.
Yes, with a login gate. You can mark characters as NSFW when publishing — they'll only be visible and chat-capable for signed-in adult users. SFW characters are visible to everyone. Mixing is allowed: a character can have a SFW public-facing personality and an NSFW-capable mode for signed-in users.
When others chat with your published characters in premium conversations, 5% of the credits they consume flow back into your account — as platform credits spendable on Reverie, not currently withdrawable as cash. We track it transparently per character: chats, fans, and credits earned. For most active creators it's enough to cover their own daily conversations without topping up.
Per character, you can choose between Gemini 3 (Google), DeepSeek V4 / R1, GLM 5 (Z.AI), and MiMo V2 (Xiaomi). Different models have different strengths — Gemini 3 for long context and vision, DeepSeek R1 for reasoning, GLM 5 for nuanced dialogue, MiMo V2 for fast everyday chat.
We import SillyTavern v2 character cards (PNG or JSON) directly. For characters built in Claude clients or any SKILL.md-compatible workflow, our Claude Skill importer brings them in via the public /api/v1 endpoint. Imported characters convert to Reverie's format and unlock features like long-term memory and forking that the source platform may not support.
No. The creator is designed for writers. If you can describe a character to a friend in a few sentences, you can build one in Reverie. Advanced users can still hand-tune system prompts, memory weights, and example dialogues if they want.
Yes. Every character is private by default and only visible to you. Publishing is a separate, explicit action. You can also create unlisted characters — accessible only via direct link — for sharing with a small circle.
