Compatibility
One destination, several paths in.
What transfers
Keep the writing you already did.
Character identity
Name, description, personality, system instructions, writing style, and core profile fields are mapped into an editable Reverie draft.
Greetings and example dialogue
Opening messages, alternate greetings, and example exchanges are preserved when the source format provides them.
Scenarios and lore
Scenario text and embedded character books can become Reverie scenarios and World Book entries rather than being flattened into one prompt.
Avatar and card artwork
PNG cards can carry their own avatar. Public images still pass Reverie's normal image review before publication.
Template conversion
Common placeholders such as {{char}} and {{user}} are translated into Reverie's format, with the original fields available for review.
A private draft first
Nothing is published automatically. Test the imported character, repair any platform-specific instructions, then decide whether to share it.
Migration flow
Import, inspect, then decide.
- 01
Choose the source
Upload a character card in the web creator, or use the importer skill when the character lives in text, screenshots, or local agent files.
- 02
Review the mapping
Inspect the extracted identity, description, scenarios, greetings, examples, instructions, lore, and artwork before saving.
- 03
Save as a private draft
The imported character enters your private library. Nothing becomes public until you explicitly publish it.
- 04
Test before publishing
Use debug chat to check voice, first response, formatting, memory behavior, and model compatibility, then refine the draft.
Character import FAQ
Before you move the cast.
What does not transfer automatically
Every platform describes characters differently. Import preserves the portable parts and leaves platform-bound behavior visible for review rather than pretending every field is equivalent.
Private platform prompts
Instructions that were never included in an export cannot be recovered. A screenshot or written description can help reconstruct the intended behavior.
Platform-specific extensions
SillyTavern extensions and other marketplace plugins use different runtimes. Install or create a Reverie plugin that provides the equivalent behavior.
Rights you do not own
Import only characters and artwork you have permission to use. Private migration does not grant rights to republish another creator's work.
Keep your characters
Start with the draft you already know.
Import privately, test every field, and publish only when the character feels right.
