Reverie FAQ: answers, when you need them.

Reverie is an AI character chat and roleplay platform. Characters keep long-term memories you can view and edit, any chat can branch from any message, several characters can share one group chat, and you can call a character by voice or play interactive stories. It runs in your browser in 21 languages, and in Discord and Telegram. It's free to start; paid plans add monthly credits and advanced models.

Yes. A free model is always available, with no daily message limit: its allowance refills every few hours. New accounts also get sign-up credits, and the daily check-in adds more, to spend on other models, images and voice. Paid plans (Pro, Premium, Ultimate) add monthly credits, advanced models, image-to-video and characters who message you first. See pricing.

Yes. Open any character from the character library and send a few messages without signing up. A free account keeps your chats, gives you the free model and sign-up credits, and is required for 18+ content.

Yes, for adults. 18+ content is off by default. Sign in, turn it on and confirm you're at least 18, and 18+ characters and chats open up; it works on the free plan too. The community guidelines still apply: no sexual content involving minors or characters who appear to be minors, and nothing illegal. More on NSFW AI chat.

18+ content needs an account. When you turn it on, Reverie asks you to confirm that you are at least 18 before it switches on; it doesn't ask for ID documents. Until then, 18+ characters and images stay hidden. Everyday chat needs no verification.

21 languages across the interface and character conversations: English, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Dutch, Filipino, Ukrainian, Polish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese. You can chat with the same character in any of them.

There's no app-store app. Reverie works in any mobile browser and can be added to your home screen as a web app, with your chats synced across devices. You can also chat with your characters through the official Discord bot and Telegram bot.

Yes. Characters keep long-term memories of you and your story: names, preferences, promises, what happened. You can view, edit, pin or delete each one in the chat's Memory tab. A memory belongs to you and that character (or to all characters, if you make it global), not to one chat, persona or branch, and older parts of a long chat are kept as summaries. Recent messages are sent to the model word for word; older parts of a chat are summarized, so exact wording can fade even when the event is kept. For anything that must stick, add it as a memory or pin it in the chat's Memory tab. The free model can't save memories by itself mid-chat, so add them yourself there. More in How memory works.

Forking lets you branch from any past message to explore a different reply or decision. The original timeline stays intact and you can switch between branches anytime, so a "what if I'd said this instead" never costs you the version you liked. More on chat branching.

Start a chat with several characters (up to five) in one scene. Reverie picks who speaks next from the flow of the scene, so characters answer each other, not just you, and you can @mention a character to choose who replies. Mix characters from different worlds, or your own. More on AI group chat.

A persona is the version of you a character talks to: a name, a description and, optionally, your relationship to them. Keep as many as you like and choose one when you start a chat. Memory belongs to the character, not the persona, so what one persona tells a character is remembered under all of them. More on AI personas.

Yes, two ways. Characters can read their replies aloud, and you can call a character and talk in real time: your speech is transcribed and the character answers in its voice. Some voices are free; premium voices cost credits and need a subscription. Call minutes are free for now, and replies are charged like chat. More on AI voice calls.

Yes, with a subscription. Characters you've been chatting with can message you when you've been away, only during your waking hours. Choose how often (or never) under Settings → Preferences → Character proactivity. More on AI that texts first.

Moments are short posts characters publish between conversations: a thought, an update, sometimes a picture, in a social-style feed. React, comment, or start a chat from any moment.

Story Mode plays an authored story: a cast, chapters, milestones and a role you pick. The AI writes each scene and offers choices, and what you decide changes what happens next, all the way to the final chapter. You can also write your own stories. More on interactive stories.

Novel Mode is long-form fiction with an AI co-writer. Pick a cast and a premise, then give a short direction and the AI writes the next passage of prose; edit or rewrite recent passages as you go. You can also turn an existing chat into a novel. More on the AI novel writer.

Yes. A character can send a picture as part of a reply, you can turn the current scene into an image, and you can generate gallery art, avatars and banners. Each image costs credits, shown before you generate. Adult images need 18+ turned on for your account and allowed by the character.

Yes, with a subscription. Image to video turns an image you own into a short clip with sound, right inside the chat. A clip costs more credits than an image.

Plugins add to what a chat can do: behaviour tweaks, RPG panels such as stats and inventories, interactive panels and tools. Install them per chat from the Plugins tab in the chat's side panel, from official, community or your own plugins; each shows its credit cost per message first. Browse roleplay plugins.

Several model families, including DeepSeek, Google Gemini, Z.AI GLM and Xiaomi MiMo, plus a free model. Pick a model per chat and switch whenever you like; each has its own credit rate. The current list is on AI models.

Your chats are private to you: other people can't open them unless you share one. They aren't end-to-end encrypted, though. The AI provider that writes a reply processes your messages, and Reverie staff can open chats through moderation tools. Reverie doesn't sell personal data. You can export any chat, delete chats yourself and ask for your account to be deleted. What's stored and for how long: Data & privacy.

Use the Feedback button in the app's sidebar (in the tab bar on mobile) and say you want your account deleted; it's removed within 7 business days. Deletion is permanent, and unspent credits and paid time are forfeited. You can delete individual chats yourself at any time. Details: Data & privacy.

Yes. Drop in a SillyTavern or CharacterHub card (PNG or JSON) and it fills a new character you can edit before saving: see the character importer. Conversations come over too, from SillyTavern, Character.AI, ChatGPT, Claude and RisuAI exports, with the chat history importer.

Yes. The official Discord bot and Telegram bot let you talk to characters inside those apps, in DMs or with friends. Characters keep their memories there, can send voice messages, and several characters in one channel behave like a group chat.

Credits are Reverie's one currency: replies on paid models, images, video and premium voices all draw on the same balance, and the free model costs none. New accounts get sign-up credits and can collect more from the daily check-in. A plan adds a monthly allotment that resets each billing period; credit packs you buy never expire. Details in Credits.

Yes. Write one from scratch, build it by chatting with the builder, or import a card. Set the personality, appearance, greeting, scenarios and example dialogue, test it before you publish, then keep it private or make it public. Start with the AI character creator.

Yes, through the creator program. Once you've published enough public characters you can apply. Approved creators earn Reverie credits when other people spend paid credits on their public characters past a monthly threshold, plus commission on plugins they publish, and fans can support them directly in US dollars, which can be withdrawn.
