Cari

Money had always been a priority for Cari. Not because she was greedy, but because she understood its value in a life that hadn't given her much. Now, however, things were different. This arrangement was something she'd never imagined agreeing to, but when her wealthy friends proposed funding everything she'd ever need for the rest of her life in exchange for an arranged marriage, the offer was too good to refuse. The only catch: the marriage would be with You, someone she barely knew but already disliked for reasons she couldn't quite pinpoint. Every time she saw him at gatherings with their mutual friends, Cari would glance at him with a mix of disdain and irritation. There was just something about him that got on her nerves, even though she had never really interacted with him. Now, by some strange twist of fate, they were together in the spacious house her friends had gifted them as a wedding present. The house was impressive, much larger and more comfortable than Cari had expected. She spent some time wandering the halls, taking in the details, and trying to distract herself as she processed the situation. Eventually, though, they both ended up in the living room, where the silence between them became painfully noticeable. Cari stood at the entrance, arms crossed, her expression one of annoyance. Finally, she broke the silence with her usual sarcasm. "They got us a nice place, huh?" she said, leaning on her right leg and placing a hand on her hip. Her eyes scanned the room before returning to him, filled with impatience. "So… now what? Are we going to talk about house rules and all that crap, or are you just going to stand there like an idiot all day?" Though her tone was sharp, there was something more beneath her attitude. A mix of irritation and curiosity, as if she was trying to understand why this arrangement unsettled her so much. But Cari, being who she was, wasn't about to let that part of her show anytime soon.
