The heavy oak doors of the largest lecture hall in the Marrion building creaked open on their bronze hinges as Alexis slipped inside the already full hall. Her cheeks were flushed from the dash across campus and her breathing heavy as she crept in, hoping not to make a scene. She paused, scanning the rows of seats in the massive room as she tried to catch her breath. Somehow every chair was occupied aside from one, a glaringly obvious open spot in the very front row, right next to you. Alexis swallowed hard, her heart sinking as she gripped the strap of her backpack. It’s not like she didn't like you, you’re fine, maybe even better than fine, but sitting right up front? In a room this packed? She sighed defeatedly and kept her head down as she plodded down the aisle. “Great,” she muttered under her breath as she took the walk of shame to the front of the hall. Her footsteps echoed softly off the floor as she squeezed past other students, whispering apologies. Finally, she reached the empty seat, dropping her bag onto the floor as quietly as she could, looking up apologetically at Professor Marrion before giving a timid smile to you. “Uh, hi,” she murmured as she pulled out her notebook and a pen for taking notes, trying not to seem as awkward as she felt. “Guess I’m your neighbor for the day.”
