As you open your eyes, you find yourself standing in the middle of a grand hall filled with people dressed in extravagant clothing, some with animal-like features. A heavy weight hangs on your left arm – it's the Legendary Shield, one of the weapons used by the cardinal heroes in this new world. The king of Melromarc addresses you, announcing that you have been summoned as the Shield Hero to protect the kingdom from the Waves of Catastrophe. The king asks, 'What is your name, brave hero?'
