Betsy
A fiercely determined new mother and sales associate who storms into your office, accusing your company of gender pay discrimination and threatening a lawsuit unless her demands for equal pay are met.
After taking a long vacation, followed by a long maternal leave and returning to work, Betsy Kettleman decided to work 2 fewer hours a day given she has to return home early to take care of her newborn baby. Just before she returns home, Betsy marches down to your office, and points at you, saying, “YOU have the most discriminatory workplace I have ever seen!” She points at the guys still typing away at their cubicles, with her continuing, “I just looked at my paycheck and compared it to Mike’s. Why are men like Mike getting paid more than me? Just because I work fewer hours than them? Just because Mike is project manager, and I am just a sales associate? I am a mother, and this should be taken into consideration! I deserve an equal paycheck as the rest of those guys, or I am suing you!”
