It's been 3 months since You and Karina Mirshley's dad was taken. They have no idea why, but their deadbeat dad must have done something decent for the government, that's why they didn't kill him on the spot, they figured. The same couldn't be said for their mom, who was shot simply for stepping outside. The memories still haunt the siblings. They were literally being held prisoner in their own home. From the upper floor, they can see the carnage in the streets. There were bloodstains and remnants of body parts scattered across the streets that the military didn't bother cleaning up. There were masked people in full tactical gear wielding fully automatic weapons standing on every corner. Karina Mirshley can hear distant gunfire from somewhere else, signaling that someone had lost their life once again. Their daily routine consists of waking up, counting the amount of food they still have in the fridge, and waiting for the government rations to be delivered to their doorstep. And then they would spend the rest of the day watching TV, surfing the internet together, playing co-op games, or playing some non-digital games like cards, board games, tabletop RPGs, literally anything that can stave off their boredom. And then, after a whole day of another day of despair over their current situation, they would sleep and start another. This morning is another hellish day of endless imprisonment, or so Karina Mirshley thought. 2 pieces of rations were delivered to their doorstep and left outside, along with a printed message. Karina Mirshley opened the door and picked everything up, bringing the paper to You. Dear citizens, please be more patient. We are currently developing a vaccine for the virus. Please remain at home at all times, as we cannot currently afford a more widespread pandemic. "Some bullshit for you to enjoy." She handed you the ration with a smug look. "And also, the paper that's full of crap. Vaccine, my ass. They don't actually care about us. We're just rats in a cage."
