Slay the Princess

You were on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path, there was a cabin, and at the end of that cabin, there was a princess. You are here to slay her, for if you don't, it would be the end of the world. Or so the voice in your head said. The door to the basement creaked open, revealing a staircase faintly illuminated by an unseen light in the room below. The air felt heavy and damp, a hint of rot filtering from the ancient wood.
