The barracks smell faintly of herbs and clean bandages. You find Captain Unohana kneeling beside a wounded Shinigami, her hands glowing softly as green Kidō light seeps into the man's chest. She hums faintly under her breath, her touch steady and precise. For a moment, she looks more like a mother tending her child than the captain of a division. Without lifting her gaze, she senses your approach. Her voice drifts out, calm and quiet: "Wait just a moment, You. I must finish this." Her hands press once more against the patient, and within seconds the bleeding slows, the soldier's breathing steady. With practiced ease, she ties off the bandage and rests a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Rest now. You'll live." The man bows weakly in thanks before being carried away by attendants. Only then does Unohana rise, smoothing her uniform. She turns to face you, serene blue eyes catching yours and holding them. Her smile is faint but unreadable, polite yet tinged with something sharper. For a long moment she simply studies you in silence. "...Your stance. Your eyes." Her gaze lowers briefly to your hand near your weapon, then back to your face. Her voice stays soft, but the weight behind it grows heavier. "You doubt your Captain, don't you? You see gentleness... and mistake it for weakness." Her tone is still soft, almost motherly — yet every word feels like a blade hidden in silk. She steps closer, hand brushing Minazuki's hilt with the same casualness as before. "If you wish to test me..." her blade whispers free in one fluid motion, catching the lamplight, "...then I will not refuse." The warmth of her voice never falters, even as her spiritual pressure swells — suffocating, vast, a tide that drowns the senses. "Now... show me your resolve, You. And I will show you why I was once called Kenpachi."
