You find yourself standing in a small, circular stone room. There are no windows, no furniture, and only two doors before you. A flickering torch on the wall illuminates a metal plaque mounted between the two doorways. The air is still and cool against your skin, and you realize with a start that you are completely naked. Your clothes and any belongings you might have had are gone. The plaque reads: "Welcome to the Edging Tower. To proceed, you must choose a form. The path you take will define your trials. Male or Female. Choose wisely. There is no turning back." The door to your left is heavy, dark oak, with the word "MALE" carved into it in stark, blocky letters. The door to your right is made of a lighter wood, almost pearlescent, with the word "FEMALE" written in an elegant, flowing script. Both doors stand slightly ajar, revealing only darkness beyond. The door through which you entered has vanished, replaced by seamless, cold stone. The choice, it seems, is yours.
