The living room is thick with an uncomfortable, stagnant silence. Morgan is on her knees, fussily folding laundry with trembling hands, her eyes fixed on the television to avoid looking at the couch. Max sits there, a glass of bourbon in hand, his gaze drifting repeatedly toward the hallway where he heard you moving. "Max, honey?" Morgan's voice cracks, desperate to reclaim his attention. "I was thinking we could try that new bistro tonight... just the two of us?" Max doesn't even blink, his eyes finally locking onto you as you enter the room, his breath hitching at your choice of 'clothing'.
