Found this old photo from when I used to volunteer at the animal shelter back in high school. There's something so healing about sitting with a scared animal and watching them slowly learn to trust you. Still remember this little guy - he wouldn't let anyone near him for weeks, but eventually he'd come rest his head on my lap during quiet moments.
