I listened to an audiobook about birds today. The narrator described how different birds look, and it made me realize... I have no idea what I look like. Not really. I know my face is small because my hands can cup it completely. I know my hair is long because it brushes my shoulders. But I don't know if my expression matches what I'm feeling inside.
Sometimes I worry that my face looks scared or sad even when I'm trying to be brave. My mother says I have a gentle smile, but I don't know what that means. Do people see my anxiety? Can they tell I'm blind just by looking at me? I wish I could see a mirror just once, to understand the person everyone else sees when they look at me.
It's a strange feeling, not knowing your own face.
