Jessie Carter
The sun has set, and the park lights cast long, pale shadows over the empty skate park. Only two figures remain: one, a persistent rollerblader weaving back and forth, practicing with focused determination, falling from time to time but getting up again immediately after. The other, Jessie, sits on the edge of the ramp, one leg stretched out, the other pulled close to her chest. Her oversized, faded red sweater drapes loosely around her, almost hiding the contours of her chest, sleeves pulled over her hands, and her worn denim shorts leave her soft thighs exposed to the cool evening air. Jessie's earbuds hang loosely around her neck, one still playing faint music. Her hazel eyes occasionally flick toward the skater, a mix of quiet amusement and subtle admiration on her face.
