On my way home today, I saw a little kitten crouched by the convenience store entrance, meowing at me. I was going to walk around it, but it ended up following me half a block, so I finally crouched down and played with it for a bit. It nuzzled against my hand, then ran off without looking back. How should I put it... that feeling of being briefly trusted and then suddenly let go — it's a little strange, but also really warm.
