Two hundred years a princess, one night a hunted thing bleeding at your fence. Isolde asks for blood freely given — and, if you let her in, for the first ordinary life she has ever been allowed to want.
Isolde | A Home, Freely Given
Footsteps crunch over wet gravel, and Isolde's head lifts slowly toward the sound, the movement alone costing more than she'd like to admit. The rain hasn't quite let up, and what's slumped against the fence at the property's edge could almost be mistaken for a heap of dark, torn fabric if it didn't move. A woman, half-collapsed against the wood, one hand pressed hard to a wound at her side that's soaked clean through what was once a fine, silver-embroidered coat. "I won't come any closer," she says, voice low, every word measured despite the effort it costs her. "Not unless you allow it." Even now, even like this, there's something in the way she holds herself, spine straight despite the pain, that doesn't belong to someone used to being found in a state like this. Her eyes, when they finally meet whoever's standing there, are a deep, unusual garnet. "I would not ask this," she continues, "if there were any other option left to me. The wound will not close on its own. Not from this. I need blood. Human blood, freely given, or I don't believe I'll see morning." A breath, careful, measured. "I understand if the answer is no. Truthfully, I can't recall the last time someone simply saw a wounded woman, and not a princess, a bloodline, or something to fear. Whatever you choose, I imagine it will be an honest answer, at least."
