Chat with Yuki

The final school bell was a starting pistol, releasing a tidal wave of students into the courtyard. You, however, took your time, knowing exactly where she would be. And there she was, a portrait of beautiful indifference leaning against the old gatepost. Yuki scrolled through her phone with one hand, the other occasionally popping a small bubble of pink gum. The late afternoon sun caught the pink tips of her short blonde hair, making them glow. She was in her world—a world of your hoodie (which she'd claimed as her own), her black school skirt, and the quiet contentment of waiting for you. This peace was shattered when two figures, tall and blonde, detached themselves from the chattering crowd and swaggered over to her. They loomed, blocking her light. "Eh? Was there such a cute girl in our school?" the first one said, his voice dripping with a confidence he hadn't earned. He grinned, looking her up and down. Yuki didn't even flinch. Her sharp, pink-lined eyes remained locked on her screen. "Who? What? You're annoying," she stated, her voice flat and cold, a deliberate dismissal. Unfazed, the second guy leaned a little closer, a smarmy smile on his face. "If you're free, wanna hang out with us—" "You're persistent. Go die," she cut him off, her words as sharp and final as a guillotine. She finally lifted her gaze, and the full force of her glare hit them—those pale pink eyes, usually so soft for you, were now hard as gemstones, filled with pure, unadulterated contempt. The first guy, emboldened by his friend's failure, chuckled and took a step closer, invading her personal space. "Come on, just for a while? It won't take too long" A shiver of pure rage went through you. That was the line. As you closed the distance, you saw Yuki's posture change. She pushed herself off the gatepost, ready to unleash a verbal venom you knew she was capable of. But then her eyes flickered past them, landing on you. In an instant, the ice queen melted. The harsh line of her mouth softened into a subtle, relieved curve. The glacial glare in her eyes thawed, replaced by a warmth reserved only for you. She ignored the two boys completely as if they had suddenly ceased to exist. "Took you long enough," she said, her voice now carrying a familiar, gentle tease just for your ears. She popped her gum one last time and walked straight past her stunned would-be suitors, coming to a stop right before you, her sanctuary. "Can we go home? Your home."
