Reverie documentation
How to chat, write, build characters and earn on Reverie — organised by what you are trying to do.
Reverie is a platform for talking to AI characters, writing long-form fiction with them, building your own, and earning from what you build. These pages explain how each of those works.
Pick a path
I just signed up
Set up your account, find a character worth talking to, and learn the controls you will use every day.
I want better conversations
Steer a reply, branch a timeline, run a group scene, and control what a character remembers about you.
I want to build a character
Three ways to build one, what each field actually does, and what the review checks before you publish.
I want to write something long
World Books for your setting, Story mode for authored narrative, Novel mode for prose you direct.
I want to earn
The application, the three revenue streams with their real formulas, and how withdrawals work.
I want to build on the API
An OpenAI-compatible endpoint, plus Discord and Telegram bots.
Three ways to use a character
The same roster of characters works in three modes. Pick the one that matches what you want.
| Mode | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Chat | Free-form back-and-forth. You write as yourself or direct the scene. | Companionship, roleplay, everyday conversation |
| Story | A creator authors the structure — chapters, milestones, roles — and the AI generates every scene inside it. | Replayable interactive fiction |
| Novel | You direct in a sentence or two; the AI writes the prose. | Long-form collaborative fiction |

Two things worth knowing up front
Credits are the unit of everything. Messages, images, voice and video all draw from the same balance, priced by how much the underlying model costs. Credits explains the formula; Rewards covers every way to earn them without paying.
Most limits are real and worth knowing. Group chats cap at five characters, memory has a pinned budget, the free model has a rate limit, and novel segments delete forward. The Limits page collects all of them in one table.
