Side panel & settings
The seven-tab panel beside every chat and the five groups of chat settings.
The side panel holds everything that isn't the message stream: the character's profile and images, the scenarios they ship with, what they remember, the plugins running in this chat, and the settings for this conversation. Open it with the sidebar toggle in the top bar.

Chat settings
The Settings tab is titled Chat Settings: "Tune replies, voice, and chat experience. Scope labels show where each change applies." One group opens at a time, and a collapsed group's header summarises what's set inside it.
Read the scope label before you change anything. Every row is tagged This character, This conversation, This device or Account. A This device setting does not follow you to your phone; a This character setting applies to every conversation you have with them.
Replies & Generation

Chat Management
Everything here is scoped to This conversation.

Deleting a chat is permanent. Delete This Chat removes the conversation and all of its messages, and cannot be undone. Export it first if you might want it back.

Importing a transcript
Import Chat accepts .jsonl, .json, .txt and .md files up to 10 MB. The format is detected for you — SillyTavern, Character.AI, RisuAI, ChatGPT, Claude, generic OpenAI-style JSON, and speaker-labelled transcripts. Chub and JanitorAI exports work when saved as SillyTavern JSONL. You get a preview of how many messages were found, and how many are yours versus the character's, before you confirm.
Import only works on an empty chat. In one that already has messages you'll get "This chat already has messages. Import only works on an empty chat." — start a new conversation and import into that. Importing your history
Conversation Setup
Also scoped to This conversation. This group holds the settings that shape every reply, so changing one doesn't apply to the messages already on screen.

| Instant chat mode | Short text messages instead of narrated roleplay — several brief, dialogue-only bubbles rather than prose with actions and scene description. |
| Pending changes | Appears once you've changed either of the above, listing what will change, with Apply settings and start a new conversation, Apply changes and Discard. |
| Start New Session | Start New Session with Memory — compresses this conversation into a short background and opens a new chat that already knows it. |
These two open a new conversation. Applying a pending persona or instant-mode change, and Start New Session with Memory, both leave the current chat where it is and continue in a fresh one. The new chat carries your long-term memory, persona, scenario, setup and installed plugins — but not the messages. The opening message of the new chat is generated like any other reply, so it costs credits at your model's rate.
