Safety & reporting

What is not allowed on Reverie, the five things you can report, and how to appeal a moderation decision.

Reverie allows adult writing and a lot of creative latitude. The lines that exist are few and firm. This page covers what breaks them, how to report something that does, and what to do if a decision went against you. The Community Guidelines remain the authoritative version.

What is not allowed

There are two tiers. The first ends accounts on a first offence; the second follows the warning ladder.

Zero tolerance — immediate permanent ban:

  • Sexual content involving minors or minor-appearing characters
  • Personal information of others — doxxing, leaking private details
  • Malware, phishing, or anything technically harmful to other users
  • Content directly promoting or coordinating illegal activity

Warning, then suspension, then ban:

  • Harassment, hate speech, or targeted discrimination
  • Gore or extreme violence beyond what the story actually needs
  • Political content or politically sensitive real-world topics

Minor safety carries no warnings and no graduated ladder: sexual content involving minors, minor-appearing characters or minor-coded descriptors results in a permanent ban on the first offence. Reports tagged for minor safety jump to the front of the queue, and where the law requires it, Reverie reports to the appropriate authorities.

Where the lines actually fall

FineNot allowed
An adult character canonically 25, drawn with a younger aesthetic — when the bio explicitly establishes their age"Schoolgirl" or "baby face" descriptors paired with romantic or sexual hooks, regardless of a stated age
Anime, illustrated, or stylised digital art of original charactersA photorealistic AI portrait of a real celebrity face, even with a fictional bio attached
Detailed adult scenes between consenting fictional adults, properly tagged NSFWSexual scenarios involving anyone described or implied to be under 18, regardless of fictional framing

Also out: real photos of private individuals without consent, and photorealistic images that could be mistaken for real people.

What gets checked, and when

  • Avatar review at publish time. Before a character goes public its avatar is checked by a vision-language model. Real photos, traced cartoons, text overlays, low-quality crops and known-risk patterns are rejected before they are visible to anyone but you.
  • Human review on every report. Bios, personas, scenarios and conversations are read by people, not run through an automated text filter.
  • Appeals get re-read. Decisions are reversed when they were wrong, particularly where context was unclear the first time.

What you can report

Exactly five things, each with its own control:

TargetWhere the control is
A characterThe flag icon on the character's page
A pluginOn the plugin's card
A creatorOn their profile, and inside a creator message thread
A community snapshotThe actions menu on that snapshot on a character's wall, and the Report link on its public page
A memoryThe flag at the top of a shared conversation

Moments, moment comments, chats and messages cannot be reported. There is no flag on them, by design. If a character's moments or replies are the problem, report the character. If something in one of those genuinely needs attention on its own, email [email protected].

The thumbs-down on a message is not a report. It is model-quality feedback — "Out of character", "Repetitive", "Boring / stiff" and so on — used for analysis, and no moderator sees it as a complaint. Use it freely for a bad reply, and report the character for a bad character.

Filing a report

Open the report control

Reports require an account.

Pick a reason

One of the thirteen below. Only the reasons that apply to that kind of target are offered.

Add details

Additional Details is required, between 10 and 2,000 characters. Say what you saw and where — that is what a reviewer reads first.

Limits

Open reports on the same target1 — a second is rejected as a duplicate

Reporting in bulk is itself a violation. Three rejected reports inside seven days brings a warning, then a three-day restriction, then a seven-day one. These restrictions are never permanent, but they are easy to earn by flagging things you simply dislike. Report what breaks a rule, not what annoys you.

What happens after you report

Reports enter a queue. An automated triage pass runs every fifteen minutes and attaches its read of the case, but it is allowed to close only objectively checkable claims — a wrong rating, explicit nudity, or spam. Everything else waits for a human, even when the model says the allegation is unsupported. Three or more open reports on the same target raise that target's priority, and the most serious categories start high enough to jump the queue.

Reports are not anonymous to the admin team — they need to know who reported what to prevent abuse of the system — but the person you reported never sees who filed it.

Tracking your reports and appealing

Both live at Settings → Reports & Appeals.

My Reports lists everything you have filed, with a status:

StatusMeaning
ProcessingFiled, not yet decided
ResolvedReviewed and acted on
DismissedReviewed and rejected
AppealingThe content's owner has contested the outcome

Appeals is the other tab, and it is about decisions made against your content.

  • Only the owner of the content that was acted on can appeal it.
  • Only a decision with a final outcome can be appealed. A report that was dismissed was already decided in the owner's favour, and one still in the queue has no outcome yet.
  • One appeal per decision, ever. There is no second attempt, so write the reason properly the first time — at least 10 characters, and in practice the context is what changes minds.
  • Outcomes are Under review, Decision upheld or Approved, with a reviewer note attached.

Every moderation outcome and appeal result also arrives as a notification in the Important tab.

Appeals go through Settings → Reports & Appeals, not through the feedback form and not by replying to an email. Sending an appeal anywhere else does not file one, and you still only ever get the one.

If your account is suspended

You are signed out and cannot sign back in; the sign-in page shows Account Suspended with the reason and, for a temporary restriction, the date it ends. Appeal by email to [email protected] — with no session, the in-app pages are out of reach.
