Notifications
In-app, push and email — what each channel carries, and how to turn each one off.
Reverie reaches you through three channels: the notification bell inside the app, browser push, and email. Push and email are switched on and off in Settings → Preferences → Notifications.
The bell
The bell sits in the header of the app's home page and counts unread items. Its contents are split across four tabs.
| Tab | What lands in it |
|---|---|
| Important | Moderation outcomes and appeal results, billing and subscription events, creator payouts and rewards, and replies from staff to your feedback. |
| Social | Reviews and replies on your characters, new favourites and followers, bounty news, and new characters from creators you follow. |
| Characters | Proactive messages, character moments, replies to comments you left, and novels finishing. |
| System | Announcements, achievement unlocks, and everything else. |
Unread only filters the list, Mark all as read clears the count, and individual items can be deleted. When the same kind of event arrives repeatedly it is rolled up into one row that says how many updates were combined.
Delete all cannot be undone. It clears your notification history — not the things the notifications were about.
Push notifications
Settings → Preferences → Push Notifications — "Receive notifications even when the app is closed." A single switch, off until you turn it on, and your browser asks for permission the first time.
- If you blocked notifications earlier, the switch can't undo that: re-allow Reverie under your browser's Site Settings → Notifications → Allow, then try again.
- On a browser that can't receive web push, the row offers Install app instead — install Reverie to your home screen first, then enable push from inside the installed app.
- A push about a message from an 18+ character shows a neutral line rather than the message. The real text is waiting in the app.
Email has exactly two switches, not a per-event matrix. Both are on for new accounts.
| Toggle | Covers |
|---|---|
| Marketing Emails | "Promotional emails, campaigns, and special offers." Also the check-in reminder and the come-back-to-Reverie mails. |
| System Emails | "Optional service announcements and account updates." |
Essential mail is separate and cannot be switched off. Sign-in links, password resets, address verification, payment and subscription notices, account-restriction notices and the warning before inactive chats are deleted are sent regardless of these toggles — a restricted account has no session left, so email is the only way to reach it.
Private emails
A third switch, Private emails, is off by default: "Hide character names, images and conversation content in character and recall emails." With it on, those mails fall back to generic copy — the subject, preview line and body carry no character name, avatar, moment image or conversation content. Useful if your inbox is read over your shoulder.
Unsubscribing from an email
Every optional email carries an unsubscribe link, and it works without signing in.
Open the link
It shows a confirmation page only. Opening it changes nothing — that is deliberate, because link scanners and mail clients follow every link in a message.
Press Unsubscribe
The button performs the opt-out, and the page confirms You're unsubscribed. Mail clients that offer their own one-click unsubscribe button do the same thing in one step.
Turn it back on whenever you like
Email preferences live at Settings → Preferences, in the Notifications section.
The opt-out is recorded against the email address, so an old address's link can never silence mail going to a new one.
A bounced address stops all mail, and a preference toggle won't restore it. If mail to your address hard-bounces, delivery is suppressed until the address is cleared — turning a preference back on does not undo it. Ask support if you stopped receiving mail you expected.
