Reply suggestions

The chips above the input — when they appear, what they cost, how to turn them off.

Reply suggestions are short drafts of your next message, shown as chips above the composer. They're written from the conversation so far, so they tend to pick up threads the character just opened.

When they appear

A batch is fetched when the last message is the character's and the reply has finished streaming. That's the only trigger. They keep coming after every reply for as long as the conversation runs — there's no cut-off once you're "experienced enough".

They do not appear:

  • on a brand-new chat, before anything has been said
  • while a voice call is open
  • while you're guiding a reply
  • while a reply is streaming

They also do not refresh as you type. The chips you're looking at were written when the reply landed.

The chips on a brand-new chat are something else. Those come from the moment you started from, or from the opening the creator wrote, and they are not generated for you.

TapSends the suggestion immediately
Long-press (about half a second)Puts it in the composer so you can edit it first

A tap sends. It does not drop the text in the box for review — that's the long-press. Any slash-command chips or custom directive sitting in the composer are applied to the message you just sent.

What they're based on

The request carries the last 30 messages, the conversation's summaries, your active persona, the scenario or moment the chat started from, the character's memories, and the NSFW intensity set for the chat. Your history is the primary source — not just the character's profile.

If there's an unsent draft in the box when a batch is requested, the model works from that draft instead of starting cold. The Get suggestions wand button is the deliberate way to use this: write half a line, tap the wand, and the chips come back as variations on it.

What they cost

Each batch is a model call, and it is billed like any other. Tapping a chip costs nothing beyond the reply your message triggers.

Running out of credits turns them off. If a batch can't be paid for, Reverie switches Reply Suggestions off for that chat rather than retrying on every reply. Top up, then turn the setting back on. Credits

Turning them off

Side panel → Settings → Chat Experience → Chat Reply Suggestions, toggle Reply Suggestions. The scope is This character, so it's not a global switch — turn it off for a character whose chats you'd rather write yourself, and it stays on everywhere else.

With automatic suggestions off, the Get suggestions wand appears in the composer's right-hand button group so you can still pull a batch on demand. While one is loading the wand becomes a stop control.
