Generating images
Image Studio, what each generation costs, and who can see the result.
Reverie generates images in several places. Most of them open the same Image Studio dialog — a preview on one side, the controls on the other, and the cost of the generation in the footer before you commit to it.
Where images come from
| Surface | What it makes |
|---|---|
| Generate Scene Image in a chat | Freezes the current conversation into an image |
| The image tool in a chat | An image a character produces as part of a reply |
| Generate on a character's gallery | An image from a description you write |
| AI Generate Avatar / AI Generate Banner | Profile art while creating or editing a character |
| Scenario and story images, novel covers | Cover and scene art for long-form work |
You don't pick the model
There is no model picker for images. Reverie resolves the route from what you asked for — whether the request is adult, and whether the character's avatar is used as an identity reference — and charges for the route that actually runs.
| Route | When it runs | Credits per image |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | The default | 10,000 |
| Mature | The request is adult and both your account and the character allow it | 15,000 |
| Character-consistent | The character's avatar is used as a reference (up to 2 references) | 30,000 |
| Mature, character-consistent | Both of the above | 30,000 |
| Edit | Any edit of an existing image, whole or partial | 30,000 |
Because the route isn't known until the request has been understood, some dialogs show the cost as a range and settle on one number afterwards. You are only charged for the route that ran.
Cost is per image, and candidates multiply it. Asking for 4 candidates at 10,000 credits each spends 40,000 credits, not 10,000. The Candidates control is in the Advanced drawer, and the footer shows the total before you generate.
What you can set
Open Advanced in any generation dialog:
- Aspect ratio — which shape comes out (see the table below).
- Candidates — 1, 2 or 4 variations in one go.
- Smart character consistency — on by default. It uses the avatar as an identity reference for simple solo shots and falls back to text-to-image for complex full-body action, big wardrobe changes and group scenes. Turning it off always uses text-to-image, which is the cheaper route.
- Style — the art style the prompt is built around.
| Aspect ratio | Pixels |
|---|---|
| 1:1 | 1024 × 1024 |
| 3:4 | 896 × 1152 |
| 4:3 | 1152 × 896 |
| 9:16 | 768 × 1344 |
| 16:9 | 1344 × 768 |
| 9:21 | 640 × 1536 |
| 21:9 | 1536 × 640 |
Individual surfaces offer the subset that suits them — a gallery image starts at 3:4, a scene image at 16:9 — and each surface has a sensible default if you never open Advanced.
Editing an image
Edit image appears on an image you own that has not been animated into a video. It opens the same studio with an Edit scope: Whole image or Selected area, where you drag over the region to change. Both run on the identity-edit route and cost the same 30,000 credits.
Pick from the quick actions (framing, expression, wardrobe, pose, mood — at most one per category), add free-text detail, or describe the change yourself. Your written notes win where they conflict with a quick action. Nothing is saved until you choose Keep both, Replace original or Discard in the comparison step.
What it takes to generate
Image generation is paid for with credits only — there is no subscription requirement. What a plan changes is how many credits you have, plus two allowances:
- Avatar and banner generations draw on a subscriber allowance first and fall back to credits when it is used up.
- A brand-new account gets 3 free profile generations, 3 free images and 1 free chat snapshot in its first 24 hours.
If a generation is blocked by the safety filter you are told so and can reword it. When a request lands on the safe route but the filter rejects it, Reverie may regenerate it on the mature route and says so in the result.
Mature images
The mature route runs only when both are true: your account has mature content switched on, and the character is marked NSFW Content by its creator. If either is off, the standard route is used and the result is safe-for-work.
Who can see what you generate
An image you generate inside a chat is private to you. It is saved to your side of the character's gallery and nobody else — not the creator, not other people chatting with the same character — can open it.
It becomes visible to others only if you choose Share to the character page. It goes onto the character's wall the moment you do, and you can remove it again at any time. See Snapshots.
Images a creator adds to the character's own gallery are a different thing — those are part of the character and visible to anyone who can see it. A public character's avatar also goes through an automated review; see Image guidelines.
